Purdue Music Technology Degrees

The Purdue School of Engineering and Technology is located in Indianapolis, Illinois. It was established in 1869, when John Purdue agreed to provide $150,000 and Tippecanoe County put up an additional $50,000 to start the educational institution. Local residents were responsible for donating 100 acres of land for the school.

Purdue University has over 70,000 students enrolled (including those enrolled in continuing education courses). Just over 58 percent of those enrolled at the school were male, and female students made up the remaining 41.9 percent of the student population. Class sizes are relatively small; the majority of them have 25 students or less.

Students who choose to major in Music Technology at the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology are able to pursue the study of how music and technology are integrated.

They learn composition, performing, and production techniques as part of the program and are given the opportunity to participate in music ensembles during their four years of study.

Some students who are accepted into this program are well versed in modern technology, but don’t have a good foundation in music.

This major is a good fit for those with a strong background in mathematics or computer science, as well as those who are talented musicians who want to develop their skills in the technical end of music.
